Bitcoin implant, only 2x12mm. So tiny, why not get two?
Bitpost posted an article about NFC implants inside the human body. Bitcoin NFC implants became a bit of a media buzz late 2014 / early 2015 when Martijn Wismeijer, one of the founding members of the Bitcoin Embassy Amsterdam experimented with biohacking a contactless bitcoin payment solution together using implanted NFC technology.
The article on Bitpost shows the Bitcoin implant video that started heated discussions in the media between the proponents and opponents of implanted technology and continues to be part of a larger debate: “If we are able to fundamentally transform the human body by developing and making widely available technologies to greatly enhance human intellectual, physical, and psychological capacities, is it ethical to do so?”
Martijn is a big proponent of these technologies and strongly believes that implants will be a vital part of the quantified self and in the near future could help to perform vital tasks like tracking insulin and cortisol levels and maybe one day even sequence DNA.
We posted a little overview of some of the media mentions the implant story got below. The list is by no means complete as it does not include most television and radio coverage and printed media like newspapers and magazines.
